Scugnizzo Liberato of Naples, Italy is one of the bottom-up experiments in heritage re-use and community building, supported by the municipality of Naples as part of a wider strategy of heritage enhancement leveraged on commons and civic engagement. Located in an abandoned monastery building complex, the “San Francesco delle Cappuccinelle”, Scugnizzo Liberato is one of the community-led initiatives selected as an Observatory Cases in OpenHeritege.
Processing cultural heritage through innovative practices, the purpose of the investigation is to indicate room for manoeuvre to support the institutional upscaling of community-led experiments in the field, supporting the transition towards sustainable and resilient urban scenarios.
