A key objective of the Sunderland Lab is to continually bring activity to the three dilapidated buildings in Sunderland. As part of this on 18th April the ground floor of one of 170 High St West Sunderland was cleared in order to host a concert from Futureheads, a local band who were about to commence a national tour of their second album. 60 people attended the event and enjoyed their favourite songs whilst talking about the needs for this new venue.
Everyone loved the space and the proximity of the band. The new lighting rig and dedicated electrics were welcomed by the band whilst the audience did comment on the need for better toilets. This concert marked the end of a project called Living Classroom where students from Sunderland College had been working on the building’s electrics and plumbing.
